Welcome to AE… My name is Fred Carter and this is my small corner of the internet. I update this site when I can and the content spans a wide range of engineering topics. If you have any inquires, suggestions, or job offers don’t hesitate to reach out.

A little about me: I currently work for Sciaky, Inc an additive manufacturing and welding company located in Chicago, IL (check it out). I received my graduate degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University’s P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. My graduate studies focused on hydropower and additive manufacturing (check out some published research).  I’ve been building 3D Printers for years now. Although it started as a hobby it has since turned into my profession and passion.

…some fun facts and tidbits:

I’ve been welding since I was 16 years old. My first car was a ’67 Mustang. I have a B.A. in German. I’ve lived abroad several times, and I’m huge nerd. If you like talking technical about anything related to M.Eng, control/automation, AM, opensource hard/software, or programming I will probably try and chat with you for hours.
